Gel Netburner Super 3

Women's size: 7-13

The top of the range shoe in the Asics netball range, it is built around completely different tooling than previous models.

In keeping with the comfort theme of this shoe asymmetrical lacing follows the natural contours of the foot. The broader tongue helps to accommodate those with ankle braces. The upper consists of synthetic leather and mesh for lightweight and durability.

The clutch collar meant to customize the shoe to the individual heel shape of the wearer is a big let down of the shoe. Rather than improve the fit I have found it to make the shoe feel shallower and decreases the stability . I found my heel to slip side to side when dogging and sprinting however I do wear my orthoses in mine. I would not recommend this shoe for an orthotic wearing player.

After wearing the previous model the midsole claims to and does live up to being more cushioned than previous models. Full solyte midsole with large visible rear foot gel unit and a double twist gel unit under the forefoot acts to dampen the impact forces associated with playing netball on hard surfaces. The medially placed Duomax, a dual density compound and a rigid trussic system combine to produce great midfoot stability. However a narrowed heel counter and midsole base lends towards a slighter framed individual

The outsole has a full AHAr (asics high abrasion resistance rubber compound) wrapped up to the midsole to produce great durability, an essential component for a netball shoe, particularly outdoor which is one of the surfaces I wear mine on. And a stitched toe for protection against drag and still with a four piece outsole with flex grooves results in great flexibility and a easier run across court than the previous stiffer soled shoes. Definitely a positive feature of this shoe.

Overall definitely a more comfortable shoe than previous models with good mid foot stability however the clutch collar lets it down.
